Mr. Akers focuses his practice in the areas of trust, probate and commercial litigation and arbitration. Mr. Akers is a trial and appellate attorney with more than forty years experience in litigation and arbitration. His broad experience includes product liability matters, coverage issues related to insurance contracts and physician peer review hearings and procedures. He has acted as national coordinating counsel for a manufacturer regarding products liability claims being defended by various insurance carriers. Mr. Akers has handled other nationally significant cases. He obtained a jury verdict in favor of a manufacturer in a major products liability case which was selected by the National Law Journal as one of 1993’s top jury verdicts won by civil defendants. Also, he acted as lead trial and appellate counsel in a Robinson-Patman Act case for a major printing company which established guidelines resulting in a holding that the client was not subject to the Act as a matter of law. Mr. Akers is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the Supreme Court of Missouri, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh and Eighth Circuits, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. He also has tried cases in the federal courts in the Seventh, Eleventh and Second Circuits as well as in many State Courts. |
